Registering Your Domain Name

The domain name is the information that needs to be typed into the address bar of a browser to find a website. For example: www.buildthat.com is my domain name.

Here are a few tips to consider when registering your domain name :

• Choose a domain name that is relatively short and simple
• If possible include your product or idea in your domain name. This will make it easier to rememnber and help increase your ranking in the search engines.
• Your domain name can end with .com, .net, .org, .info, .us, .biz and more.
• The preferred domain names end with .com
• You may consider registering your domain name with .net and .org to prevent others from capitalizing on your product or idea
• I would suggest signing up for your web hosting account first since most provide at least one free domain name per account. I use ixwebhosting as my provider.
